As part of why we exist (to get people closer to nature), and that we are on the National Register of Historic Places, we are now moving towards being a hickory sticks and walking only golf course at the Lodge.
The announcement was made on October 21, 2025, with the transition happening over a 3-year period. The full transition will be completed in the 2028 golf season.

We are talking to various hickory stick manufacturers to build out our hickory stick rental sets.
We continue to modify the golf course each year to fit the historic nature of the Lodge golf course and the historic nature of the game of golf. This process started during the 2024 golf season (e.g. growing the fine fescue longer in to better define each hole, and expanding the greens back to their original size — in 2024, 2025, and f2026 the putting surface area will have increased from 1 acre to close to 1.66 acres; cutting the greens at a higher height — 3/16″). But we still think about the future — as part of our marrying history with the future concept. For example, mowing the fairways and roughs with autonomous mowers, mowing the greens with an all-electric mower, etc. And working with Audubon International to continue to get better as a golf course sanctuary.
