It is mandatory for registered lodging establishments in the state of Michigan with 10 or more rooms to charge a tax on top of the standard sales tax. In the Keweenaw region, the lodging tax is 6%, and is administered by Visit Keweenaw and the Upper Peninsula Travel and Recreation Association.
