Julie Blackstone hired as the Food and Beverage Lead at the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge

Copper Harbor, Michigan, December 2, 2019 — The Keweenaw Mountain Lodge would like to officially announce the hiring of Julie Blackstone full time. Julie has accepted the responsibility of being the head of the Food and Beverage operations at the Lodge, which will entail overseeing both the F&B front of the house and the back of the house (kitchen) operations.  She will start full-time at the Lodge in January, preparing for the opening of the 2020 summer / fall season in May.

Julie has been working with the Lodge part time in the kitchen since early July to help fill the gaps when the busy season hit, namely with activities during events.  She worked hand and hand with Chef Widad and the kitchen crew during the second half of the season, and did a wonderful job doing that.

With Julie’s experience running the Denali restaurant operations since it’s opening in 2015, and her 19 years of experience at the Harbor Haus in Copper Harbor, she brings with her knowledge that will be valuable in implementing the vision of a rustic food and beverage experience for guests at the Lodge.  She understands the effort and the attitude that it takes to succeed with the food and beverage activities in the Keweenaw.  In addition, her affinity for the Lodge and Copper Harbor help her fit the values of the team — keeping the team focused on being fun, joyous, and adventuresome with the F&B operations.

Being responsible for all of the food and beverage operations, Julie will be working closely with Chef Widad and the kitchen crew, the guest chefs, the bartenders, the servers, the greeters, and the events crew (for catering) to make sure that the Lodge’s food and beverage operations are strong and inline with the Lodge’s values — fun.joyous.adventuresome.
