Solar Energy at the Lodge

We are working on several solar projects on the Lodge property:

  • Solar panel array to power the water treatment building [ completed ]
  • Solar panel array to power the main Lodge building, Outdoor Activity Center, employee housing, and septic blowers [ on hold ]

Solar panel array to power the water treatment building

Installation of a 3.54kW solar system on the Water Treatment Building was done in the summer of 2025. The system consists of a six panel 590kw solar array installed on the roof, with a Sol-Ark 15k inverter. The installation included battery storage — 16.1 KWH Discover Helios battery — and Tigo optimization. Installation was done by Peninsula Solar. We received a 50-50 grant from the State of Michigan – EGLE via their Agriculture and Rural Businesses Energy Incentive Program to support the project, with grant writing help from Cleaner Greener Future. The Water Treatment Building has been running on solar power since 3pm on August 1st, 2025.

Installation of a 150kW solar array on the main meter at the resort, which powers the main Lodge building, Outdoor Activity Center, employee housing, and septic blowers. This meter also powers one of the Rivian Waypoint EV chargers we have on property. Installation to be done by Peninsula Solar, with the solar panel array (upwards to 272 panels) to be installed where we currently have a burn pile. We have received a REAP grant the Department of Ag – Rural Development division to support the project, with grant writing help from Cleaner Greener Future. The solar panel array installation is scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2026.
