Stargazing: Perseids Meteor Shower
August 11, 2021 - August 12, 2021
Event Navigation
The Perseids are a popular meteor shower, as they peak on warm August nights as seen from the northern hemisphere.
This year, the Perseids start to be active on July 17 and will continue through August 24. Their peak will be August 11th and 12th.
From the top of the Keweenaw at the Lodge, where the skies are dark, the rates will be 50-75 shower members per hour at a maximum.
These meteor showers are called Perseids since the area of the sky where the meteors originate is located near the Perseus constellation.
