What are we known for with our Skiing? Getting you closer to nature on the trails in the woods, along with providing you opportunities to have vistas of the beautiful mountain landscape of the Keweenaw.
A winter trail pass and a signed and initialed waiver is required for usage of the winter trails.

Skiing at the Lodge
During the winter season the Keweenaw is blanketed with over 200 inches of snow each year. The Keweenaw Mountain Lodge welcomes each snowfall as an opportunity for adventure. We have 10 km of groomed, classic cross country ski trails. These trails are conveniently located right outside the cabins and are a mix of wooded terrain and open spaces. With multiple loop options you can head out for a quick ski or combine the loops for a longer day. Please bring your classic gear with you or ask our staff where xc skis can be rented.

Altai Hok Skis
If you are looking to explore the fresh snow off of the groomed trails we have Altai Hok Skis for rent, with a partial climbing skin integrated into the base, this ski climbs with ease and the ski’s short, wide design makes it incredibly maneuverable, ideal for thick woods and variable terrain.
Cross-Country Skiing and Snow Shoe Trail Map
Below is the current trail map for cross-country skiing and snow shoeing on the resort property. We are currently experimenting with laying tracks on different trails for classic XC Skiing. Check our Winter Trail Condition page for updates.

Cross-Country Skiing Near to the Lodge
Fort Wilkins Loop: Just 1 mile from the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge in downtown Copper Harbor you will find another 9km of cross country ski trails. This is an easy rated trail system consisting of mostly leisurely terrain. The two-way trails allow for variations of loops and distances. The landscape is relatively flat and offers a variety of beautiful settings including wooded sections, open meadows, scenic views along the shore of Lake Fanny Hooe and several glimpses of grand Lake Superior. It is a multi-use system regularly groomed by the Copper Harbor Improvement Association, and includes classic ski tracks and a separate lane for fatbikers and snowshoers. End of the Road Trails: Located 5 miles from the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge are the End of the Road Winter Trails. This system starts at the beginning of HWY 41 and offers 16 km of big elevation trails with some amazing vistas. These trails can be used to ski to Horseshoe Harbor or to the top of East Bluff and are wide enough to skate ski. This is a remote area so you need to be self sufficient and carry clothing layers and water. Maps are available in the OAC.
Downhill Skiing and Snowboarding: Located just 14 miles from the Lodge, Mount Bohemia is the Midwest’s most extreme ski/snowboard resort. This unique ski area area is famous for it’s powder snow and steep terrain. You will find a mix of steep glades, ungroomed runs and small cliffs. If you like challenging terrain you will enjoy riding at “Boho.”
