Below you will find the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge’s (KML) golf course policies, including our terms and conditions for golfers to be able to play the course.
We are a different golf course, so please read all terms and conditions to understand our historic wilderness golf course. It is your responsibility to read these terms and conditions before you play the golf course.
General Terms and Conditions
Tee Times: It is recommended that golfers have a tee time to ensure that there is availability on the golf course, and to make the experience more enjoyable. Tee times are be made online, over the phone, or in person.
If you are a guest in the cabin, you can book at any time after you made your lodging reservation (contact the Outdoor Activity Center for tee times further out than 7 days.
If you are not a cabin guest, tee times can be made 7 days in advance by the general public.
Tee times are spaced 20 minutes apart, with no exception. This provides the groups to be spread out appropriately for a wilderness golf course.
Pairing Policy: KML reserves the right to amend any tee time, and reserves the right to make all groups into four balls in order to maximize use of the golf course.
A maximum of 5 people is allowed in a group / tee time. Playing in a group greater than a 5-some at any given time during the round will result in all members of the group being removed from the golf course immediately.
No Organized Events / Groups: The KML golf course is not for organized events and groups. The maximum size of a group is 8 people. If you come with more than 8 people, or book tee times for more than 8 people in an organized group, you risk being refused the ability to play our golf course..
Dress Code: We do not have a strict dress code at this time. We expect golfers to wear appropriate attire that fits a family environment and/or golf-related attire. Any of the following attire may result in refusal of admittance (includes, but not limited to):
- No tank tops are allowed
- Clothing which exposes excessive portions of one’s skin that may be viewed as inappropriate for a family environment
- Clothing with objectionable material, including obscene language or graphics
- Excessively torn clothing
Payment: Full payment is required before starting your round and is non-transferable or refundable in the event of cancellation. Golfers to be at the tee of the first hole 15 minutes before their allotted tee time. All golfers are expected to play from the 1st tee, unless otherwise instructed by a KML team member.
Golf Carts, Tempo Walks, Pull Carts: The use of all golf carts and pull carts are subject to weather conditions and is made on a daily basis by our head golf course superintendent. This decision is a basis on creating the best playing conditions for those on the golf course on the day and also the health and safety of those on the golf course.
With the usage of the golf carts, each golfer agrees to return immediately upon completion of play the golf cart he/she used, and do so in the same condition as it was received (normal wear being accepted). Each golfer that rents a cart agrees to pay damages that are sustained to the cart due to the golfer’s use.
The golf carts are not off-road vehicles, and thus should stay within the tree-line or on a designated path. If you are found driving the carts in the woods not on the designated path, you will be given one warning. The second occurrence will warrant taking the cart, and you will finish your round walking.
Golfers agree to hold KML harmless and to defend KML from any and all claims for damages of any nature, whether to myself or others that my arise from or through the use of the golf cart. To drive a golf cart, you must has a valid driver’s license.
Check-in for Your Tee Time: Check-in is done in person at the first tee. You will check in with the staff at the Outdoor Activity Center before teeing off.
Pace of Play: All golf is played in four balls and each 9-hole round of golf should be completed within 2 hours and 15 minutes. Slow play must be avoided at all times. A roaming marshal monitors the pace of play on each golf course and KML reserves the right to ask players to speed up: in extreme circumstances golfers will be asked to pick up and walk a hole in order to stay on time. The decision of the roaming marshal is final.
No Outside Alcohol: Alcohol must be purchased in the bar or from the Little Cabin Cafe. Our liquor license does not let outside alcohol to be drank on the golf course. This policy will be STRICTLY ENFORCED, if you are caught with outside beverages you will be immediately asked to leave the premises. ALSO, you are not able to bring outside alcohol on property unless you are staying in a cabin, and are drinking in or near the cabin you are staying in. It is state LAW that outside alcohol is not allowed other than in and around the cabin you are staying in.
No Music: No music is allowed on the golf course, as we are a quiet place in the wilderness.
Adding 9-holes to your first 9-holes to complete an 18-hole round of golf: We are a 9-hole golf course. To complete an 18-hole round of golf at the Lodge you can play the course twice for an 18-hole round. You can pay the green fee for 9-holes, and if you decide to play a 2nd nine holes to complete an 18-hole round, you can pay the difference at the turn. If you play 9-holes, and then leave the golf course, and come back later in the day to play another 9-holes you will be charged the full 9-hole green fee rate (and cart rental if you rent a cart).
Rain Checks: Rain checks will only be granted during inclement weather conditions. If the golfers have not completed their first hole by the time the weather hits, a rain check will be given to the appropriate golfers. After the first hole has been completed, no rain checks will be permitted.
Lost and Found: Please note that all items are left at KML at your own risk. KML does not accept liability for any items left unattended within any private or public areas of the resort unless a specific request for safekeeping of items has been made to us.
We have the right to remove anyone from the course that is in violation of these terms and conditions.
