Current Status of Application:
Application Denied by the Keweenaw Heritage Sites Committee, June 16, 2023
As part of our normal activities, we are applying to be a designated heritage site of the Keweenaw National Historic Park. This designation is administered by the Keweenaw Heritage Sites Committee, which is commissioned by the national park. The Heritage Sites Committee works identify sites that “contain significant cultural and/or natural resources, and make a unique contribution to the copper mining story.” There are currently 21 heritage sites. We feel that the Lodge is a historic gem in the Keweenaw, and can be the next heritage site for the national park.
