At the Lodge, we work on various aspects of sustainability, as we want to be operating for a longer period of time in a healthy environment with a supportive and productive team. Sustainability, in its rawest form, refers to “the ability to maintain or support a process continuously over time”. It is a balance between the environment, equity, and economy (UCLA Sustainability Office), and it is about “meeting our own needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs” (McGill University Sustainability Office | In 1987, the United Nations Brundtland Commission definition pf sustainability). As such, sustainable development entails “an integrated approach that takes into consideration environmental concerns along with economic development” (UN Nations).
For us, we categorize sustainability into organizational sustainability, financial sustainability, environmental sustainability, and sustainable tourism. Below are activities and initiatives that we are doing to continue to be sustainable or are working towards being sustainable.
