Keweenaw Cup Cyclocross Race

Our last event of the 2019 season was a fun one! On Saturday October 26, UPCROSS brought day 1 of the Keweenaw Cup to the Keweenaw Mountain lodge. Day 2 was held Sunday at the Trail’s End Campground, where racers were encouraged to race in costume. Proceeds from the Keweenaw Cup went to benefit the Copper Harbor Trails Club.

Not sure what cyclocross is? It is a fun style of bike racing where bikers race a fast and furious short loop, while not only navigating hills and mud, but natural and man-made obstacles.

The course at the KML took bikers through the Back 9 trails and over the golf course. It was a beautiful fall day, the weather was perfect! Spectators and racers got to spend the day outside in the crisp fall sunshine. The day started with the youngest racers, and ended with the Masters tearing up the course. Post race activities were held in the main lodge, where everyone enjoyed a delicious taco bar, and fun music by Frank An Da Beans.

We are happy that UPCROSS chose the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge to host the race, and we look forward to hosting again next year!
