DESCRIPTION:[ Read: June 25\, 2022: Night Sky Photography Workshop Recap ]\nAbout the Workshop\nThe purpose of this workshop is to educate people on how to capture the beauty of the the night sky on camera. Topics being covered include equipment needed\, camera settings\, and the best locations for viewing. These workshops will start out with a brief presentation (in the conference room)\, and then we will go outside for hands-on experience — taking pictures of the night time sky (hopefully the milky way or the northern lights) around the Lodge property (weather depending). With the information garnered from the workshop\, it will make stargazing more enjoyable. \n\nPrice\nFree for Lodge guests\, $75 for non-Lodge guests. \nReservations are required. Space is limited\, so you will want to register early to reserve your spot. To reserve your spot\, please call (906-289-4403 ext 2) or email events@keweenawresort.com. \nLocation\nYou meet at the Conference Center at the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge between 7:00pm and 7:30pm. The session will last about 2 hours  – possibly more if participants would like to spend more time with guided practice. \nAbout the Instructor: Thomas Oliver\nThomas Oliver is the Events and Educational Lead at the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge.  He is an avid photographer of wildlife and landscapes\, including dark skies and northern lights.  His photography work can be viewed at teoliver.com and @theupwell on Instagram. \nSince he was a child\, nature\, wildlife\, and the outdoors have always been his deepest fascination – the intrinsic force which drives him. Those interests led him through\, both\, his career (in wildlife ecology/management and science education) and his preferred forms of recreation (hiking\, backpacking\, canoeing and kayaking\, photography\, hunting and fishing\, and birding). Although\, he was born and raised in the UP\, these pursuits also provided me the opportunity to live overseas (in Europe and Asia) for 15 years\, which greatly expanded my experience with the outdoors and outdoor recreation in different cultures.

He now spends his time indulging in the over abundance of natural beauty in his native UP and spending excesses of time outdoors with his family. DESCRIPTION:Each spring the Copper Harbor Trails Club organizes a cleanup session with volunteers to clear the trails for the coming season. Snowstorms during the winter create downed branches and leaves that lay on the trails. This debris needs to be cleaned up before the trails open for the season. \nThis year’s workdays are planned for the following times: \n\nSaturday\, May 14th from 10 AM – 2 PM (rain/snow date for May 15th\, same time)\nSunday\, May 22 from 10 AM – 2 PM (no rain date\, we’ll cancel if it’s a downpour or snow storm)\n\nVolunteers meet at the Trails End Campground. Learn more about the spring cleanup: https://copperharbortrails.org/volunteer

DESCRIPTION:So you’ve secured a venue\, and are starting to reach out to vendors. Flowers\, music\, cake\, and the big one\, catering. Maybe your venue takes care of your catering\, or maybe you need to find an outside vendor. But in either case\, a tasting option will probably be in your future.  \nWhat does that mean exactly? Tastings are offered in two common ways…group tastings or private tastings. In either option\, one thing remains the same: your wedding menu tasting is for you to learn about the chef’s style and quality of cooking. It is NOT a free-for-all tasting of anything and everything you want from the menu. For private tastings\, there will most likely be a set tasting menu\, or you may have limited choices from different categories. Group tastings look a little different\, with a buffet style set-up of dishes that Chef Wi wants to highlight. \n \nThe group tastings will be the choice the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge offers moving forward. Twice a year we will be offering group tastings free for couples who have booked weddings with us\, and a cover fee for those still shopping around. This gives everyone a chance to try several different food options. \nRemember to take notes on what you taste\, and take pictures so you can distinguish between dishes. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and give feedback\, for your best experience possible. And have fun!
