He now spends his time indulging in the over abundance of natural beauty in his native UP and spending excesses of time outdoors with his family. DESCRIPTION:[ Read: Perseid Meteor Shower Party 2024 Recap ] \nJoin the OAC team on Hole 4 of the golf course for a Perseid Meteor Shower viewing party. Please feel free to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets.  Between 50 – 100 meteors per hour are predicted after midnight.  \n \nMeet at the OAC at 11:00pm to walk out to the viewing area on Hole 4 of the golf course. Please see map below.. \nWe suggest bringing warm clothing\, a red flashlight\, bug spray and a good attitude. In 2023 it was cloudy at the start of the event and then cleared up for a spectacular show. Please note the the grass did get wet with dew during last year’s event.

DESCRIPTION:Front 9 Endurance Golf – Join us for the Longest Day of Golf!  \n[ Purchase Tickets ] \nThe Front 9 Endurance Golf is a one day event held on the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge golf course. It is connected to the celestial event of the summer solstice\, which marks the official start of astronomical summer and the longest day of the year. This event also celebrates the anniversary of when the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge was designated an International Dark Sky Park which happened on the summer solstice – June 21\, 2022.  \n \n  \nThis is a walking only event. No golf carts will be allowed on the course all day.  \nRules/Guidelines: \n\nThe golf course is open from 6:00am to 10:00pm.\nMaximum of 24 golfers allowed. \nGolfers must make their first tee time. Tee times are 20 minutes apart. The KML team has the right to group golfers together.\nGolfers can play unlimited rounds.\nGolfers must walk the course.\nGolfers are allowed to take breaks then continue play.\nOnly complete 9 hole rounds of golf will count.\nOnly participants of the event are allowed to play golf that day.\nThere are two  categories – Traditional golf and fling golf \nRecognition for the golfer who plays the most rounds – medal. \n\nPrice: $65 – Please call the OAC to register (906) 289-4403 ext 4 \n[ Purchase Tickets ]

This provides visitors and residents access to incredible stargazing and the opportunity to view the Northern Lights. Join us for a discussion on ways to ensure that the Keweenaw’s dark skies can be enjoyed now and by future generations. \nJohn Mueller\, owner of the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge\, will describe current efforts to establish the Keweenaw Dark Sky Park in Copper Harbor. He’ll explain why protecting dark skies is important to our region. \nMueller manages the operations and strategy of Keweenaw Mountain Lodge. He purchased the WPA-era lodge located at the top of the Keweenaw in 2018. He has expanded resort offerings to include outdoor and educational activities year-round and a rustic\, global food menu. \nMueller has been a professor at St. Edward’s University and a faculty member at Fresno State and Western Michigan Universities. He has a PhD in Entrepreneurship from the University of Louisville\, an MBA from the University of Illinois and a BBA from Southern Methodist University.
